.........other than national pride?

The United States Olympic Committee rewards Olympic medalists with honorariums. A gold medal brings $25,000.
Silver medals get you $15,000. And a bronze is worth $10,000. However for US wrestlers, besides the gold medal,
the winner also earns $250,000 from a program begun in 2009 for wrestlers called "Living the Dream Medal Fund,"
designed to offer prize money to Olympic medalists. This money is taxed. Then you’ve got the endorsements which run into millions.

Compare to other countries.
How much for a gold medal at London 2012 Olympics:
• Singapore - $800,000 (£515,000)
• Kazakhstan - $250,000 (£160,000)
• Kyrgyzstan - $200,000 (£130,000)
• Uzbekistan - $150,000 (£95,000)

• Tajikistan - $63,000 (£40,000)
• US - $25,000 (£16,000)
• Australia - $20,000 (£13,000) plus face on a stamp
• UK - No money - but their face on a stamp

Some countries give additional bonuses such as cars etc.
